Overview

ThreadLift is a specialized cosmetic procedure used to achieve a facelift without surgery. At Sarin Skin, our dermatologists have extensive expertise using this procedure to address jowls, sagging eyebrows and cheeks, and other parts of the face that could benefit from a tightening effect.

One of the reasons ThreadLift has become so popular with our patients is that it’s minimally invasive and requires only local anesthesia, all while producing a noticeable tightening effect. Further, the procedure typically leaves no visible scarring.

What is ThreadLift?

ThreadLift is a minimally invasive procedure used to tighten sagging skin around the face and neck. The procedure utilizes small threads made of polydioxanone (PDO)—the same material used in dissolvable sutures. These very thin threads are inserted under the skin and used to manually reposition the skin to create a tightening effect.

How threadlift works

The idea behind ThreadLift is similar to a facelift but without the surgical removal of excess skin or repositioning of the underlying tissues. During treatment, our dermatologist makes small puncture incisions at the treatment site. Thin PDO threads are then inserted under the skin using a fine cannula.

The number of threads used depends on the area being treated. For example, lifting sagging cheeks and jawlines may require three or more threads on each side. More threads help cover a larger area and provide a smoother, more natural lift. Once the desired lift is achieved, the protruding ends of the threads are clipped off. The threads remain under the skin and are completely invisible.

Will my face look natural?

Yes. What makes ThreadLift effective is the presence of tiny barbs along the thread. When pulled, these barbs grip onto the tissues and lift the area evenly. Since the tension is distributed, the result is a smooth and uniform lift that looks natural. The PDO threads are also very soft and cannot be felt under the skin.

What does threadlift treat?

ThreadLift primarily treats:

  • Sagging cheeks
  • Jowls
  • Loose forehead skin
  • Drooping eyebrows
  • Mild neck sagging (not vertical muscle bands)

Does threadlift hurt?

No. The procedure is generally painless due to the use of local anesthesia. Also, since the technique involves minimal trauma to skin and tissues, the recovery is more comfortable compared to surgical facelifts.
